I challenged myself to draw some difficult angles. Foreshortening. I've done two so far and see improvement.  Day 1  Day 2 Saturday I went to the museum and made some thumbnail sketches of Japanese woodblocks prints, but I wanted to try a full size drawing. Here is my version of Hiroshige's "Sailing Boats at Arai".  I took a trip to our local art museum, The Chazen, and did some sketching. Then I hit the beach where I did a few more sketches. Practicing and looking at other artists work. What a great way to spend a day. This is the way I wish I could work all the time.     I decided to go back to some colored pencil today, thought I'd try out some new techniques. These are some collard leaves from my garden.  A day off work allowed me to have a nice easy slow start to the day. Reading and taking notes in my journal with my coffee cup by my side. After the holiday cook out, I took a little time alone to do some drawing. I love a lazy day.  I've been drawing and sketching this week in the moments that I can. Busier than normal this week. Here are some of the things I've been up to.  I'm reading a biography of Julius Caesar and thought I'd give him a quick drawing.  "Landscape Grass in Summer Sun" - another quick drawing this time over lunch break.
