I thought I'd try a small still life today. I haven't really done one in a very long time. Probably since art class. Anyone remember those days? It's a small canvas 8"x10".
After working most of the day working in the office yesterday, I was finally free to catch up on some things here at home. Besides chores, I was able to finish a painting, do a little writing and make a new sketch. Here are the results of a day at home.
I decided to draw instead of going in to the office to catch up on work this evening. It means I'll need to go in Saturday, but it was nice to take my time and focus on drawing.
I'm trying to draw more consistently. Daily if possible, but with everything else to be done it doesn't always happen. Here is the drawing I made for today.
Today was a perfect day - ok except for getting up with the alarm. But I only had to work a half day and came out to sun, bright blue clouds and mid 70 temperatures. I ate lunch outside, laid in the grass to read and came in and did some sketching.
While going through some of my old pictures I found some childhood art. It made me wonder if we really change that much. Spin art and Light Bright - bright bold color. Drawings of ladies in pretty dresses - fashion. And of course flowers. Maybe the journey is more about depth and refinement, not change.
I've been looking through some drawings and thought I'd share a few as I come across them. Here are two fashion sketches from a number of years ago.
I've been working on a new painting. Marilyn Monroe. I've changed the colors on it once already and it still needs some more work.
