I'm trying to draw more consistently. Daily if possible, but with everything else to be done it doesn't always happen. Here is the drawing I made for today.
While going through some of my old pictures I found some childhood art. It made me wonder if we really change that much. Spin art and Light Bright - bright bold color. Drawings of ladies in pretty dresses - fashion. And of course flowers. Maybe the journey is more about depth and refinement, not change.
We hung a new display today at Kesslers Jewelers today. Here's a look. Please stop by if you're in town.
I've started a new painting and thought I'd share some of the progress with you. A number of hours later, I'm done for the day. That's all there is for now. I need to live with it for a little while to see what it has to say. Does it need more work? What and where?
It felt good to spend time painting again. I'll keep you posted on the progress. It's been a little while since I posted. I've been working on some paintings for the new display at Kesslers Diamonds. Here is a preview of the show. Please stop by if you are in town. The show will be up through the new year.
In August I said that I was going to start studying water. I've been working at it and have made some progress, but there's still a lot of experimenting happening. There's a long way to go. Here some sketches and studies I've done.
I had some time off work and decided to try my hand at painting water. My first attempt however was far from successful. I ended up with a series of colors with no form. I realized how challenging water really is. To see the whole and the details at the same time. It's transparent and reflective. Fluid and dense. Constantly in motion with broken patterns. Water will take a lot more study.
I've dug up every spare canvas I could find to start making studies and sketches. Visiting creeks, streams and lakes to watch the water and hopefully learn to understand what I see. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Here are some recent photos I've taken (of water). I wanted to share the news with you...I've got an exhibit of some of my paintings at Kesslers Diamonds on Junction Road. They'll be there for the next 3 months. I hope you'll be able to stop by and take a look at my work and the other artists showing there.
